Mr. Wali attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and graduated with Bachelor of Law (LL.B, Hons) in 1979. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1980 and obtained Masters of Law (LL.M) with specialization in International Human Rights Law from the University of Essex, England in 1985. After doing the National Youth Service during the 1980/81 Service year with the Rivers State Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID), he joined the Kano State Civil Service in 1981, where he worked as a State Counsel in the Kano State Ministry of Justice until 1987 when he resigned to join the services of Afribank Nigeria Limited as a Manager. While in Afribank, he pioneered the establishment of the Area Legal Office in North-East Area Office, Kano and rose through the ranks to the grade of General Manager. He voluntarily retired from the services of Afribank as the Group Company Secretary/Legal Adviser, in January 2009 and started Private Legal Practice before his appointment as the Executive Director, Management Services with the Nigerian Export-Import Bank on 14th August 2009. Mr. Bashir Wali is a Member of the Nigeria Institute of Management and Business Recovery & Insolvency Practitioners Association of Nigeria as well as an Honorary Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria.
